Updates – March 2019

With April just around the corner, I wanted to share a little bit of what I have planned for this space now that most of my back catalogue of book reviews has made it onto the blog.

While we’ve been heavily book focused since the relaunch, the time has definitely come for me to branch out a little and start writing about my other passions – namely feminism, history, art, movies, and video games.

The fact remains that I started this blog as a portfolio of sorts and, as much as I love book reviews, if I’m going to get paid work scribbling away for someone, the more I know how to do the better!

From the start of April, I’ll be sticking to a new schedule, with posts on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. It’ll run fortnightly, with different categories appearing in each week.

Book posts will appear every Monday, with Wednesdays alternating between History, Art History, and The Women Of… series (more on that later), and Fridays taking on movies, TV, and video games.

Any updates or general chitchat will go up on Sundays – just like today!

Switching up categories won’t just give me lots to showcase; it’ll also give me time to craft and plan different pieces, alternative options when I can’t quite pin down something to write about, and hopefully stop me stressing out when my reviews catch up to my reading!

Older blog followers might remember The Women Of… series, and I’m super keen to bring it back. The basic gist is that it’s a celebration of female characters in (generally speaking male-leading) movies. Think Ellie Satler in Jurassic Park and you’re on the right track. I’m trying to blend academic research with my angry-sweary-feminism but sometimes a few interesting quotes from journals can’t quite convey what my CAPSLOCK can, so it’ll definitely be a work on progress in that regard.

It all launches on April 1st, so I’ve got some planning to do! Thanks for sticking with me – for whatever reason! – and here’s to a great start to a new lease of blogging life!
