Take on evil with Lindy Ryan and Christopher Brooks’ Throw Me to the Wolves

It’s been ten years since a witch sacrified Britta Orchid’s family and turned her into a werewolf, and the last place Britta wants to be is anywhere near the scene of the crime.

But the witch is dead, according to local police, and all that was left of her was found in Britta’s old home. Britta has a rock solid alibi, but rookie cop Aaron Labaye hasn’t brought her in as a suspect. He’s convinced she might be able to help him crack the case, and lay her family’s spirits to rest, once and for all.

Throw Me to the Wolves is a fast paced horror romp from joint authors Lindy Ryan and Christopher Brooks. Combining Southern Gothic horror with exciting werewolf lore, its ghostly apparitions, bloody battles, and engaging characters makes for a great read.

Split between Britta and Aaron’s investigations and flashbacks to the days leading up to the murder of Britta’s family, piecing together the story of what happened is a lot of fun. You might well see one or two of the twists coming, but there’s a certain delight to getting it right, and the final few pages set things up perfectly for the next in the Cry Wolf series.

A solid Halloween season read.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.
