Review policies

I am more than happy to receive review requests – movie, book, local event, whatever! But before you send any ideas my way, here’s a few ground rules.

I may refuse your offer. Your work could be the perfect fit for me, but the timing could just be all wrong. Or it could be the opposite, and I’m just not interested. Please don’t take it personally.

I reserve the right not to review at all. Some books don’t speak to me. Sometimes life gets in the way and I can’t make an event. BUT I will always inform the appropriate people if I can’t make a deadline, and if I’ve taken on a project, I’ll do my utmost to see it through.

I won’t mince my words. If I don’t like what I’m seeing, I’ll say so. I’ll also say why – I’m not in the business of bashing for bashing’s sake.

I don’t use star/number ratings. Please don’t ask me to. I’ve made the conscious decision to shift away from them, in the hope that it will both ensure readers engage directly with my opinions, and push me to read a little more critically.

I’m open to most genres and am willing to take books based on their individual selling points. Send me blurbs, extracts, media releases, whatever you’ve got, and I’ll judge on a case by case basis.

I am limited to what I can actually receive and read. I read on a Kindle, so any ebooks will need to be compatible with that (something I’m aware image heavy books struggle with), and I am based in Australia, so please consider that if sending physical copies.

I do not accept audiobooks. My brain just isn’t wired for them, I’m sorry.

I generally do not accept self-published works.

I publish here and will share links to my Twitter and Instagram. I have deleted my Goodreads and do not shop on Amazon. If you have any other recommendations about where I can share my work, please pass them on.

I’m open to blog tours. As long as the schedules line up, I’m game!

And I think that’s about it! If you’d like to get in touch about a project, fly me an email and I’ll get back you as soon as possible!
