Given that 2020 has somehow been both the shortest and longest year in recorded history, it’s both surprising and somewhat of a relief that the new Beat the Backlist challenge is almost here!
I recently did a tour of my TBR on my BookTube, and going through it (as well as unhauling a few long-termers I know I won’t get to) has made me even more determined to truly beat that backlist in 2021.

Happy August everyone! We’re kicking off this month with a readathon – the MS Readathon!
Given my track record, you’d be forgiven for thinking that I’m daft for trying to do another readathon but this one is a little different.
It’s a fundraiser and it’s not structured at all – I can read whatever I want and there’s no prompts!

I posted not one but TWO videos last week – scroll on down to find them! But for now, here’s a few updates!
First of all, I do want to briefly address the protests that are taking place across the world, in response to years of systemic violence and racism towards black people across the US, in particular that perpetrated by the very people supposed to protect them. Australia is no less guilty than America of this, especially when it comes to the Indigenous community, and (doctor’s orders pending) I’ll be attending protests in solidarity this weekend.
In the meantime, I’m diving into a few books to better educate myself, and I’ve made a small donation to Black Lives Matter earlier this week. I’ll be donating to Sisters Inside when my next allowance comes in, and please feel free to share any links in my comments to other places that need our help too – Australian or American or otherwise.
